Connector Qualification Test
What is Connector Qualification Test?
Connector qualification test is a test conducted to verify the reliability (assurance level) of a connector. Connectors are components used to connect electronic devices and machinery, and their reliability has a significant impact on product safety and quality. Therefore, it is important to evaluate reliability through various tests in the design and manufacturing of connectors.
Connector qualification tests are broadly divided into two categories: basic tests and environmental tests.
- Basic tests are conducted to verify the basic performance of a connector.
- Environmental tests are conducted to evaluate the reliability of a connector under the environmental conditions in which it is used.
Connector evaluation tests mainly comply with the following relevant standards
- IEC standards: standards set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (abbreviated IEC).They are developed internationally for electrical engineering, electronics and related technologies, some of which are developed in collaboration with the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
- JIS standard: the Japanese Industrial Standard (formerly known as the Japanese Industrial Standard).Standards established under the Industrial Standardisation Act and are one of Japan’s national standards.
Test items for connector evaluation tests vary depending on the connector type and operating environment.
In addition, test items may be added or test conditions may be made more stringent to ensure product safety and quality.

Features of IMV Tests and Solutions
We can carry out vibration and shock tests on behalf of our customers, develop test conditions and assist with countermeasures in the event of failure.
We are always available to help you with the following requests and problems
- You do not know how to determine the test conditions.
- There is no problem in the field even though the test has failed.
- Want to reproduce a failure that occurred in the field, but the test does not show the same failure mode.
- The customer has presented us with test conditions, but you do not know what to do.
- Wants to review whether the existing test method is appropriate.
- If a problem occurred in the test, was it solved with a single design change?
- Want to design a product with the vibration/shock environment in mind from the development stage.
Vibration and shock testing requires a high level of expertise and extensive experience, but it is quite costly to train and maintain such specialists in each company. One solution is to outsource various vibration-related issues. The IMV Test Lab has a number of solutions, so feel free to contact us for more information.
