IMV’s A74 Vibration Test System Evolves – Achieving 300 kN Shock Force
The general-purpose vibration test system “A74” has been upgraded with a newly developed power module for the power amplifier, designed in-house by IMV.
This enhancement significantly improves the system’s shock testing performance.
With this upgrade, the A74/EM10HAG model achieves a maximum shock force of 300 kN at a velocity of 3.5 m/s.
In addition, with the High Velocity Shock Option, the system supports high-velocity shock testing up to 4.6 m/s, a capability currently unique to IMV worldwide.
Previously, achieving such demanding test conditions—300 kN shock force—required a large water-cooled vibration test system (K125 class).
However, the enhanced A74 achieves this high force and high velocity while maintaining an air-cooled configuration.
As a result, auxiliary facilities required for water-cooled systems—such as outdoor cooling towers and large-scale piping—are no longer necessary.
This significantly reduces the cost and installation time associated with customer infrastructure preparation.
Furthermore, compared to water-cooled vibration test systems, air-cooled systems offer shorter delivery times.
In addition, the number of power amplifier cabinets has been reduced from four to two, enabling a highly compact system configuration and more efficient use of limited test room space.
These performance improvements enhance the system’s capability to support reliability testing under more demanding vibration and shock conditions in fields such as defense equipment (MIL-standard compliant), EV batteries, electric motors, fast chargers, and satellite-related equipment.
